Curt Mfg. or Pull Rite

My brother finally decided on a fiver. He will be pulling it with a Ford F 250 HD w/tow pkg and V10. The weight of the fifth is around 6000 lbs. The dealer will install either a Curt Mfg. 16K hitch or a Pull Rite Super 5th hitch 16K. Is there a preference among you users as to which to install? Thanks

Front or rear bed?

I went with my brother, who is in the market for a TT, and I saw several with either the bedroom in the front or in the rear...they both had large storage areas under the beds. If the bedroom was in the front, wouldn't have to be really consious of how much weight you stored due to tongue weight? What seems to be the preference?

RE: Makin' the Bed

Travasak also gets my vote. We have two of them for use on the corner bed and also above the cab. Makes life a lot easier.

"Ultimate Camp Cooking" DVD

We just returned from a week long camping trip to Ponderosa State Park in McCall, Idaho. Shortly after arriving, we were greeted by Pat and his partner Mike. They are shooting the second DVD on Ultimate Camp Cooking and asked us to join them for "Fun, Laughter, and Great food"...their motto. We stopped by during shooting and were able to participate in some of the shots of the guys preparing, cooking, and serving delicious meals. They cook with grills, Dutch ovens, and the open fire. They were right about the motto...true. We had a great time. They are sponsered by the Affinity Group (Camping World, Good Sam etc.) They travel around the country attending RV shows and campgrounds. If you ever get a chance to watch/participate I encourage you to do so. The guys are comedians and put on a good show. Here are a couple of pics. My Wife is holding our Black Lab that was also in the DVD wearing a Good Sam hat. Their web site is: ultimatecampcooking.com http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg210/pharlap7_photo/UCC39-08.jpg http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg210/pharlap7_photo/UCC29-08.jpg http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/gg210/pharlap7_photo/UCC9-08.jpg

RE: In lieu of leveling blocks mmmm

Being a "Wilderness" campground...boondocking only at known campsites, this isn't one of the more improved campgrounds...everyone seems to level to an extent. I should have clarified first.

In lieu of leveling blocks mmmm

While camping at a nice mountain campground, an older couple pulled in across from us with an also older TT. Their site was one of the ones that was on a slight slope running side to side. He pulled in then got out and checked, got back in and pulled forward about 10'. He then got out, went to the back of his truck and grabed an old Army shovel. mmmm my wife said, "wonder what he's doing". He started digging a trench about 8" deep and about 6' long :E When finished (about 40 minutes), he backed the trailer up into the trench and he was level. It worked, but he left the trench when he pulled out a few days later. Needless to say, the park people were pretty pissed when they came around and saw it. Never seen anything like that before...

RE: Anyone make a Grease Sucker?

My wife bought a turkey baster from the "Pampered Chef". It has a silicone bulb and we use it for basting with hot oil or drippings. The heat does not bother it and it "sucks" just fine....give it a try.

RE: Suspension upgrades on 07 Seneca HD 35GS

It's really too bad that some units require thousands of dollars in upgrades to make them better drivers. If I was looking for a quality unit and saw that the factory took the time to actually test drive and upgrade the needed components that would really get my attention.

RE: Scratching my head

Bingo...it was the brass cap that screws onto the siphon assy after you remove the siphon hose. The gasket had a small piece missing and it was enough to cause the air leak although no water leaked out. We cut a small disk out of inner tube to use as a gasket and it fixed the problem. Thanks again for all of the suggestions.

RE: Scratching my head

Thanks guys,...I have relayed all of the above suggestions. I just talked to him...the pump is wired correctly, has 13.2 volts, plenty of water flow from tank through the 3" tubing. He is going to replace all of the tubing he can reach and add new clamps. Thanks again...we'll see what's up.

Scratching my head

My son has an older class C with a perplexing water pump problem. His water tank is connected directly to the pump with a 3" piece of tubing. He filled his tank, turned the pump on and it started spitting a mixture of air/water (normal on startup)..except it continues to do it. He pulled the fill cap from the tank to insure that it had adequate venting..same problem. Thinking it was the pump, he bought a new Shurflow...same result..spits out water/air then just air. I have been scratching my head trying to figure out the problem now I am asking for suggestions. Thanks

RE: need help

The oil pressure sensor is located at the top rear of the engine right where the block meets the bell housing. IF you remove the doghouse, you will see it. I just replaced mine along with an external oil pressure gauge.

RE: What's the best purchase strategy?

It has been my experience, whether buying a MH,or auto to do your homework. Check NADA low retail, used MH sites, etc. to arrive at a price. Go to the dealer and, first really check out the used unit to make sure needed repairs/tires etc. aren't needed. If all looks good to you, make him/her an offer based on your research. If he balks (probably) leave him your phone number and walk away. I have walked away from several dealers to only have a call waiting as soon as I got home. Good luck.

RE: 12 volt tv where to buy

If you want to upgrade to a 20"...try CW or another dealer that sells Jensen.."built Roadworthy for RV'ers" http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/20-12-volt-flat-panel-lcd-television/31225

RE: Buying first motorhome Class c or A

Just another bit of info... You might also want to consider a Class "C" Toyhauler. Ther have plenty of room for a couple of bikes, tools and a couple of fold down bunks.. Good luck

RE: Newbie and need to renovate MH a little - Need Help!

In an 18 footer you will be very limited on space. Get a piece of graph paper with the 1/4" squares and, using 1' to = 1/4" do a layout of the existing floor plan. Note where the furnace duct work is located and any other plumbing/electrical vents or outlets are. I think you will soon see when you add a futon, bench seat and two chairs that you will be very crowded...if you have the room. Using a scale plan will allow you to actually visualize any re-modeling.
